September 7 Paralympics Preview: Women’s and Men's Team Epee Event

by Nicole Kirk

PARIS, France — On the final day of fencing at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, Team USA will take to the strip once more for the team epee competitions.

The women’s team of Ellen Geddes, Victoria Isaacson, and Jataya Taylor will take on Hong Kong, China in their first matchup of the morning. The team is looking to improve on results from the individual competition where Geddes and Taylor each earned individual wins.

Byron Branch, Noah Hanssen, and Garrett Schoonover make the men’s trio competing for Team USA. They will take on Brazil for the second time as a team. Despite a sixteen point run from Branch in the team foil competition, Team USA fell to Brazil. They now look to improve on that result in the team epee competition.

Both squads will take the strip at 4 a.m. ET and compete simultaneously in the Round of 16.

The tournament format starts with the Round of 16 beginning at 4:00 a.m. ET (10:00 a.m. Paris time).

As the tournament progresses, competition continues uninterrupted through the quarterfinals. Then there’s a two-hour break so the morning/afternoon session ticket holders can leave and make way for the evening session attendees.

The evening session begins at 8:10 a.m. ET (2:10 p.m. Paris) with the semifinals, bronze medal bouts and gold medal bouts, followed immediately by the victory ceremonies for each category.

Select bouts are streamed live on Peacock and NBCOlympics.com (streaming schedule).
