Olympians and Paralympians in the Field for January 2025 North American Cup in Kansas City

Lauren Scruggs and Maia Weintraub headline a star-studded field of elite fencers competing Jan. 3–7, 2025, at the Kansas City Convention Center.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Fencing fans will have their first opportunity of 2025 to see the sport's biggest stars up close as 17 Olympians and four Paralympians take the stage at the January 2025 North American Cup in Kansas City. Among them are 11 athletes fresh off their historic performances at the Paris Games, including Lauren Scruggs OLY and Maia Weintraub OLY, who helped lead the U.S. Women’s Foil Team to an unforgettable gold medal.

Scruggs, who also captured an individual silver medal in Paris, and Weintraub, her teammate on the historic squad, headline an exceptional field of competitors representing the sport’s best.

Joining them in Kansas City are decorated athletes like Daryl Homer OLY, a three-time Olympian and Olympic silver medalist in men’s saber, and Ellen Geddes PLY, a two-time Paralympian and parafencing standout.

The North American Cup, scheduled for Jan. 3–6 at the Kansas City Convention Center, is the next stop on the fencing calendar after Team USA’s triumphant run at the Paris Games. Featuring more than 2,300 fencers from across the nation, the tournament includes athletes as young as 10 and as experienced as 87.

The Olympic athletes will compete in Kansas City in Division I, the highest level of fencing competition, while the Paralympic athletes will compete in the parafencing division.

They'll be joined in Kansas City by the country's finest cadet (17 and under) and Veteran (40 and older) fencers.

Admission to the January North American Cup is free, offering Kansas City residents, fencing fans and other visitors an exciting chance to experience fencing at the highest level. Competitions begin daily at 8 a.m., with medal rounds concluding each evening.
