A: You will automatically be assigned to the division associated with your home address. Please note that you can only be a part of a division linked to either your primary club or your home address, and this can only be changed twice a year. If your club is in a different division, please reach out to information@usafencing.org or call our main line at 719-866-4511 for assistance with this change.
Members should email information@usafencing.org with the subject title of "gender change request". In the email, please include the following: gender pronouns, age category (e.g., cadet, junior, etc.), and whether or not the athlete intends to compete in multiple categories. Additional information may be requested in accordance with the transgender policy. Once all necessary information has been received a member from the national office will make the gender change.
As an NCAA athlete, approving athletes for collegiate competition falls out of USA Fencing's scope. However, there are certain protocols (eligibility procedures, paperwork submissions, etc.) that athletes must complete to be approved for competition. Athletes should complete the forms below and send them to ssi@ncaa.org and odi@ncaa.org.
Per the transgender policy, any athletes fencing junior and above shall adhere to specific guidelines to participate in nationally sanctioned events.
