Isaacson started fencing because a close friend was a fencer ... Initially drawn to fencing for its strategic and fast-paced nature, Isaacson found it to be an empowering way to channel her competitive spirit ... Participated in national and regional fencing tournaments throughout high school before sustaining injuries to left femur ... Was eventually diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and began parafencing in 2018 ... Isaacson currently works as an outpatient occupational therapist specializing in hands and pain management. She uses her experiences as a disabled individual to provide comprehensive care to her clients, as well as work to develop adaptive sports in her hometown.
