About Meghan:
Meghan DeFord is a philanthropy professional with nearly two decades raising money for great causes and helping organizations expand their impact. As the Director of Development for USA Fencing and Executive Director of the U.S. Fencing Foundation, she leads efforts to grow the sport through strategic fundraising, donor engagement, and transformational philanthropy.
Prior to joining USA Fencing, DeFord held leadership roles in fundraising and engagement at Saint Andrew’s School, the Anti-Defamation League, Florida Atlantic University, and the University of Maryland. Her expertise lies in growing philanthropic programs, leading high-impact campaigns, and fostering a culture of giving. A natural connector, DeFord thrives on building relationships and discovering what drives people. She brings this perspective into her work, aligning individuals’ passions with opportunities to create lasting change.
A lifelong athlete, DeFord grew up playing soccer, basketball, softball, and rugby, and believes in the power of sport to unite and inspire. These days, she stays active through running, yoga, and coaching youth soccer coach.
She earned her degree from the University of Maryland (Go Terps!) and, after a decade in DC, relocated to South Florida for work. Now, she’s bringing her experience and enthusiasm to USA Fencing, where she’s excited to support athletes and grow the sport.
