USA Fencing Service Awards

USA Fencing Service Awards

The USA Fencing Service Awards were initially given at the 2000 Summer Nationals. At that point the categories were not formalized, and the process was to identify people who deserved recognition, and then to confer upon them an award that described the reason. During Stacey Johnson's term, she began to categorize the awards as service to the sport of fencing, USA Fencing as an organization and to clubs and divisions. When Miller and Baker left substantial legacies, Ms. Johnson's Executive Committee engraved their names to the respective awards.

The Service Awards are:

  • Ray Miller Award for Service to the Sport of Fencing
    • Awarded to an individual who has shown outstanding dedication and contributions to the growth and development of fencing nationally and/or internationally.
  • Jack Baker Award for Service to USA Fencing
    • Awarded to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and impact in advancing the mission and initiatives of USA Fencing.
  • Special Service Award
    • Awarded on an "as-needed" basis (not annually) to individuals whose service to USA Fencing and/or the sport of fencing go above and beyond.
  • USA Fencing Award for Service to Divisions and Sections
    • Awarded to acknowledge individuals' outstanding commitment and contributions to the flourishing of fencing at the regional and local levels within the United States.
  • RC Distinguished Service Award
    • Presented by the Referees' Commission to recognize the service of those referees who have worked at the very highest levels and offered a lifetime of service in so doing.
